I am influenced by nature, history, and the entropy and decay of my hometown - New Orleans, Louisiana. My art explores the fragility of life and the mysterious beauty found in seemingly mundane places, objects, forms around me. Using my dads old 35 mm camera I am constantly catching light on my walks. For me photography is an act of journaling and archiving the moments that guide my process. I also collect found materials Iike reclaimed wood, bark, shells, cloth, etc that I incorporate into my paintings. In this digital age of blatant artificial stimulation, I find myself needing more physical contact than ever. Using materials and creating with my hands allows me to connect to myself and my surroundings.
